  • Claims Specialist

    Job Description: The purpose of this position is to ensure that all aspects of the medical billing process are performed accurately and in a timely manner specifically with Work Comp claims.

    Job Functions:

    • Review insurance payments, zero pay vouchers, and contractual adjustments as necessary to ensure appropriate reimbursement of accounts
    • Maintains accurate documents and reports following established procedures and policies


    • High School Diploma required
    • At least 2 years of experience in a health care billing environment
    • Exceptional typing/data entry skills
    • Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9 coding from a reimbursement perspective
    • Familiar with explanation of benefits and payment posting
    • Familiar with all types of insurance, specifically Work Comp
    • Must have good math skills
    • Knowledge of Excel and Word

    Work Schedule: M - F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with flexibility for staying later or coming in earlier if needed.

  • Durable Medical Equipment Tech

    Job Description: The Durable Medical Equipment Tech performs a variety of tasks including the application of pre-fabricated and custom orthotic devices.

    Position Requirements:

    • Basic computer skills
    • Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology
    • Prior orthopaedic or rehab experience preferred
    • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills, and communication skills
    • Must be able to complete tasks with a high-degree of efficiency and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with frequent disruptions
    • Must demonstrate the ability to analyze data and resolve complex problems
    • Must have the ability to work independently while managing time and workload appropriately
    • May need to travel to satellite locations for delivery/retrieval of DME items

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Apply prefabricated and custom orthotic devices ordered by physicians
    • Educate patients about donning, doffing, the use and maintenance of devices
    • Communicate with physician teams and multidisciplinary staff
    • Document patient encounters in detail
    • Maintain and order DME supply inventory
    • Deliver compassionate care to patients and manage protected health information
    • Other duties include but are not limited to the following: policy compliance, record keeping, scheduling, and validating patient eligibility for equipment
    • Retrieval of patients from clinical area to apply DME

  • OR Ciculating Nurse (Full-time)

    Job Description: The OR Circulating Nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect professional nursing care of the patients in the operating room

    Requirements: Candidates must have experience in circulating. Orthopedic/Spine surgery experience preferred, but not required. Candidates also must have current ACLS certification.

    Work Schedule: M-F. Four 10 hours days with a rotating day off.

    Job Description: Southern Bone & Joint Specialists, PA is looking for a highly motivated Physician Assistant to join our expanding practice. The Physician Assistant will treat and evaluate patients on a day-to-day basis, including performing comprehensive histories and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic test, etc. under the supervision of a physician. Must be willing to work flexible hours.

    • Master’s degree in Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related
    • Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C)
    • Requires completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) administered by National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
    • Prior orthopaedic experience in a clinic setting is preferred

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
